Sharing the Gospel (Four Questions)

1.  Who is God?

  •  God is the Creator.  (God made everything to bring Himself glory).
  • God is holy.  (He has never done anything wrong.  He can’t have anything to do with sin).

Rev. 4:11    “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.”

2.  Who are you?

  •  You were created by God.  (You were made to know God and to please Him).
  • You are unholy.  (We are sinners.  We have broken God’s rules.  We are traitors who have rebelled against God).

Gen 1:27 “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”

Rom 3:23  “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

The Problem: Because God is holy, He has to punish sin.  One day God is going to judge this earth and anyone who rebelled against Him will face eternal punishment.

2 Thess 1:7b-9  “When the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.  They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might.”

The Solution

3.  What did Jesus do for you?

  • Jesus lived a perfect life.  He always pleased His Father.
  • He died on the cross to pay for your sins.  He paid the consequences for our sins.
  • He rose again on the third day.  He defeated death, so that we can have eternal life.
  •  One day when Jesus returns, everyone who trusts in Him will be raised from the dead.

Romans 5:8  “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

1 Peter 3:18a “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God.”

4.  How should you respond to Jesus?

  •  You can’t earn a right relationship with God.
  • You are not a Christian just because your parents are Christians.
  • Knowing about Jesus is not the same thing as knowing Jesus.
  • You must put your faith in Jesus Christ.
  • Faith is a commitment to follow Jesus at all costs.

Eph 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing;  it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

John 3:16  “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
