God as the Self-Existent Creator

Here’s some more of my developing doctrinal statement for my Christian Theology class.

I believe in one God, the Creator of heaven and earth, who has primarily revealed Himself to humanity through the Bible, God’s Holy Word. God has revealed Himself to us in order that we might know and worship Him (John 17:3). He is the Creator of everything that exists and nothing exists that He did not make (Gen. 1-2; John 1:1-4). Everything that does exists has been made by Him and for Him (Col. 1:16; Rev. 4:11).

According to Scripture, God is self-existent. He is not dependent on anything outside of Himself (Ex. 3:14; Is. 40:28). He is eternal, without beginning or end. He has no needs and thus cannot be manipulated by man. The God of the Bible is the only God (Deut. 6:4; Is. 44:6). All other “gods” do not exist. They are only mere frauds manufactured in the idolatrous hearts of sinful humanity (Is. 40:18-20). Unlike these idols, the personal Creator God of the Bible has not been invented by the sinful desires of man; rather He is the Creator of everything.
