Here’s some more of my creed.

Because of our fallen nature, difficulties often arise when we seek to understand the Bible. Sin has corrupted human mind, will, and soul (Rom. 3:10-18). Therefore, in order for us to interpret Scripture correctly, the Holy Spirit must guide and illuminate us as readers in both the understanding and the application of the Bible (John 16:8-11; 1 Thess. 1:5; Eph. 1:17-18).

Since Scripture teaches that the church is the temple of the Holy Spirit, the illumination process often takes place within the context of Christian community (Eph. 2:20). Additionally, the Holy Spirit often illuminates Scripture through the means of the hard work of study and reflection (Prov. 2:1-6; 2 Tim. 2:7; 2 Tim. 2:15).

Although there are parts of the Bible that are difficult to understand, the main themes of Scripture, which are necessary for salvation, are clear to the reader through the aid of the Holy Spirit (2 Tim. 3:15).
