Today was my first day as the youth pastor at Naperville Christian Church.  It was a real good experience.  Shelley and I met with the kids in Sunday School.  The group was predominantly middle-school students.  They were a pretty high-energy group, but what do you expect?  After all, they are middle-schoolers.  We played some four-on-a-couch.  That’s a good mixer for learning names.

Afterward, we met with some of the sponsors.  They had a lot of good ideas for activities and how things work with the kids.  It was really valuable to hear from them.  We want to get the parents involved as much as possible.  Since most of the kids are spread out all throughout the Chicago suburbs, we really need parental support to get students to a youth meeting.  So we need to come up with some good ideas which encourage parents to be involved.  Any ideas, fellow youth pastors?

Well, anyway it was a good day.  I’m looking forward to the new challenge this upcoming year.
