Reading

Recently I’ve been trying to read more fiction. Over the summer, I’ve picked up a couple of Stephen King novels, some Flannery O’Conner stories, and Graham Greene’s The Quiet American. Right now I’m working on Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky. His novels wrestle with some deep life issues.

I’m reading some more Tom Wright. This time it’s The Challenge of Jesus. I’m telling everyone about him. The other day I was in the Borders in Rapid City.  While I was checking out books in the Christian section, I overheard some college kids looking for John Piper, Don Miller, and John Eldredge books (kinda a weird combination).  So I pointed out Wright’s Simply Christian to them.   Wright’s incredible. I’ll probably end up reading everything he’s ever written. Maybe. Sometimes his books kinda repeat themselves.

Crime and Punishment, eh? That’s a great book. I didn’t realize how great of writing it was until I read some lousy books recently. Good to have you blogging again.

I love the stories of O’Connor and Dostoyevsky. Sounds like you’ve got some good reading going on!
