Posts have been kind of slow around here. I’ve been pretty busy with the start of the new semester and our youth ministry at church. This semester I’m taking OT criticism with Dr. Andrew Hill along with Greek and Hebrew. Hopefully I can start posting some more in a little bit.

Blog Hiatus
October 22, 2007The last couple of weeks have been really busy for me as midterms approached. So if you’ve wondered why I haven’t been posting much, that’s why.
I hope to start posting a little more frequently. I’m starting to work on my doctrine statement on God and creation that’s due in a couple of weeks.

Reading the Bible in color
September 17, 2007Learning Greek and Hebrew this semester has really been a privilege. In the past, I thought, “Now that we have so many great English translations of the Bible, why do we even need to learn the original languages?”
Yet learning to read the Bible in the original languages adds so much to our understanding of Scripture. It’s like [...]
Duane Litfin in grad chapel
September 13, 2007Today Dr. Litfin, the president of Wheaton, spoke in grad chapel on the importance of the Scriptures in education. Here are some of my notes.
The goal is Christ-centered learning (i.e. the integration of faith and learning).

Hebrew
September 11, 2007My schedule is starting to pick up since Hebrew is starting to be more difficult. I’m having a hard time telling the difference between the qames and the qames-hateph. Tips?
That’s just to say that my mind is coming up blank when it comes to posting lately.

In preparation for next week, we had to read “Sola Scriptura: In the Vanity of Their Minds” by John Whiteford. We also had to prepare an outline. Foolishly, I decided to post part of my outline so that [...]
John Piper at Wheaton
September 6, 2007John Piper spoke in chapel today. Here are the sermon notes that I took. (more…)
Greek and Hebrew
August 29, 2007So I went to my first Greek and Hebrew classes today. I was a little bit worried going into them that I’m going to have problems mixing them up; however, the classes are quite a bit different. The teachers have completely different styles. The Greek teacher seems pretty traditional in style; while the Hebrew teacher is [...]
Helmut Thielicke on Truth and Love 2
August 28, 2007Here’s another Helmut Thielicke quote that Dr. Greenman gave us yesterday.
“The man who studies theology…might watch carefully whether he increasingly does not think in the third person rather than the second person…This transition from one to the other level of thought, from a personal relationship with God to a merely technical reference, usually is exactly synchronized [...]
